CHINA - EMPEROR’S APARTMENT

This is a view of the Last Emperor’s apartment.  It’s at the back of the Forbidden City in Beijing.  It’s isolated by these piled stones. That’s a collection of prayer columns in front of the building.

CHINA - SHANGHAI

This is the view of Nanjing Road from our hotel.  At night, it’s a wall on neon lights and people waltz in proscribed areas on the 30 foot wide sidewalk.

TIBET

This is the Portola Palace.  The historic residence of the Dali Lama.  It’s on the edge of the city of Lhasa and is 334 years old.

Plant Study

We planted some cat grass in a pot at our home in Glendale, CA.  The cat’s loved the  green tendrils.  Then, the cats went away and the grass grew into these tough, dry shoots.

HONG KONG HARBOR, 2007

Since the days as a British Protectorate the collection of small house, market and craft boats, called The Aberdine, that clogged the Hong Kong Harbor has been reduced to one small area that tourist boats cruise through.

THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA

This is a spot about 12 miles from Badaling, the remodeled part of the Great Wall, where dignitaries are taken.  We walked for 45 minutes up a hillside to this more ancient and authentic section of the Wall.
